It's Time to Kick the Boredom Blues
I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I NEVER WANT TO HEAR THE WORDS “SPRING CLEANING” EVER AGAIN!
My house has never been more organized, wiped down, tidied-up, and deep cleaned. I almost can bounce a coin off my bed (you Brady Bunch fans will know what I mean). But it still seems like a mess. Go figure. I’m a super-organized person but no matter how much I tidy up a drawer, clean a shower, neatly put away my groceries, I feel my home is in such disarray. I’m probably being too hard on myself, but I should have invented socks with a lint brush or Swifter pads permanently attached so I can clean and walk at the same time. Multi-tasking at its finest! Between my two teenage daughters and myself, we have so much hair we could outfit a wig factory! Don’t get me wrong, I know we are blessed with super thick hair, but between this, the over-the-top makeup tutorials, and my two budding chefs constantly want to cook gourmet meals (with the end result looking like an oil splatter bomb went off in my kitchen), it’s constant cleaning in my humble abode.
As I sit down at my kitchen table (my home office has been commandeered… long story), it’s time to start thinking outside the box once again for some new and exciting ideas you can do from the comfort or your home (this pandemic has given us a new appreciation for the term “couch potato”). NOTE: Don’t forget to check my past blogs for previous virtual ideas, hidden gems, Amazon recommendations, and more.

A PARTING NOTE
Besides deep cleaning your home, now is a good time to brush up on your first-aid skills. You can take classes taught by the Red Cross at home: Red Cross Class. This is not only the time to take care of yourself, but to take care of others. You never know when someone may be in need. Not just the random stranger you may come across could be in peril, but your loved one in your own home. Take these classes together since you now have the time, as one day you may save each other’s lives.
A number of us are starting to lose it a bit. Right now is the time to think of ways to reduce stress. An idea is baking and/or cooking. If you don’t have a kitchen stocked like Rachael Ray or Julia Child, don’t fret. There are easy ways to make buttermilk, substitutions exist for the flour you cannot find at the market, discover a love for vegetables, and realize that breakfast for dinner can be so much fun. Sleep in, stay up late, don’t shower, let your grey grow in, let your stubble grow in, wear the same clothes as yesterday (well, change your undies… gross!), skip a workout. It’s ok. Yes, don’t let yourself get to the point of no return but don’t be so hard on yourself. Take a day off and do what makes YOU happy. Then take a day to do what makes your partner happy. Then a day for your kids. Work in between. Just make it manageable and when that negative feeling creeps back into your head, get up, take a walk (even if it’s just around the kitchen table), download a few great apps (such as Breethe and Calm), play a few great apps on your phone by yourself or with friends (Solitaire, Matches, Rummikub, Jigsaw Puzzles), listen to a Podcast, plan your perfect future staycation (L.A. Any Day can help you with that… hint, hint), and remember, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Therefore, I’m signing off as I need to go take that walk around my table.
