It's the Little Things that Keep Us Sane
WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK IS IT? ALL I KNOW IS today ENDS IN “DAY.”
Are you beginning to feel as if one day is blending into the next? That we can’t remember what day of the week it is, let alone what hour? Well, guess what? It’s the weekend! For quite a few of you in this extended period of social isolation, the weekend is becoming not much different than any other day of the week. We might have a few less Zoom work calls, but that just means you can take off that dressy top and now fashionably match with those fuzzy bunny slippers you were wearing that no one on your conference call could view (hint to some of you: be aware of your background surroundings… you are giving away more about your personal life than you might want others to know; this can either be comical to others or a bit disturbing).
Since we need to unwind a bit, I have compiled a list of virtual events you can enjoy from the comfort of your home (sorry, but like you have a choice?). Here you go…

KIMBERLY’S HIDDEN GEMS
Many of you have asked me numerous times, “Kimberly, what are your favorite restaurants?” Well, that’s tricky because I LOVE FOOD. Not only do I enjoy amazing cuisine, but I treasure the art of dining.
An example is Sonoratown in DTLA where you will find the tastiest tortillas because they source their flour bi-weekly from Mexico and their tacos are only $2-$4! What a deal. Sonoratown
Another mention at the top of my list would be fine dining at Citrin & Melisse in Santa Monica because I believe Josiah Citrin is truly one of the most talented chefs ever and he works magic at every one of his restaurants. This two-in-one white tablecloth dining venue is a treat worth treating yourself to. Citrin & Melisse
One more to mention is another of Josiah’s restaurant’s: Charcoal in Venice. Though their meat dishes are phenomenal, I was completely blown away by the heavenly vegetable dishes. Charcoal Venice
I am looking forward to all of these restaurants reopening after the shutdown (none of these are currently open for takeout or delivery at this time). Please remember to support the restaurant industry (see my previous blog L.A. Any Day's Restaurant List).
AMAZON LINKS
Normally I list here some of my faves but in this blog, I am concentrating on a few of my top beauty products that are tried and researched by me and/or my girls after TONS of research (NOTE: I will never recommend a product I haven’t tried or did not like):
If any of you have seen my original hair, I could easily be the lead singer from an ‘80’s rock band. So if you have curly hair like mine and you want to straighten it, this tool is amazing: Revlon hair straightener/blowdryer
Then if you want to add some nice waves to that hair: Beachwaver
Are your feet parched and need some tender loving care: Eucerin foot lotion
How about a fabulous hydrating overnight hydrating facial mask: Kiehl's hydrating masque
My favorite root spray to cover up the skunk stripe: Hair root spray

A PARTING NOTE
Though we may be on our way to “flattening the curve,” let’s all be cognizant of how some are reacting to this extended stay at home time in our lives. Some of you are so fortunate you can ride out this pandemic with enough money and you will be fine. Or you have a job that is adaptable to this ever-changing climate. Maybe perhaps you haven’t been touched on personal level by someone who has been taken very ill by this virus. But for the majority of the world, most are not as blessed and the longer we are forced in this lockdown, the worse it will become for more and more individuals. My point being is there are still people out there who are not talking to their kids to not gather in groups, friends who still congregate just a couple of feet apart to socialize, people standing way too close for comfort either out in public or oddly, still are having parties. So I have to say, REALLY????
Sorry to preach but the faster we get control of this, the quicker we get back to whatever our new “normal” will be. So please reach out to your friends, family and colleagues, young and old, healthy and ill, those who you have not spoken to in quite awhile. Zoom and other social platforms are amazing! Conduct virtual happy hours, brunches, parties, dinners, and more creative gatherings. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS. We won’t be like this forever. The entire world is going through this event AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. It’s not an American problem. It’s a worldwide issue. Send out a virtual hug and let’s set a goal to give real ones to each other sooner rather than later.
